The department of National Building Codes Compilation was established in 2013 following the impartation of the minister of Roads and Urban Development in the location of BHRC. Since then, all the affairs related to building national code compilation were designated from the Office of National Building Codes Compilation in Ministry of Roads And Urban Development and then they were transferred to the Department of National Building Codes Compilation in the center.
The main goals of this department are constant compilation, approval and revision of the building national codes, principals and technical rules which their observation in design, calculation, execution, implementation and building maintenance is mandatory so that the construction is safe, convenient and cost efficient.

Providing consultancies on amendment of building national codes which are compatible with particular conditions of each city; these amendments are proposed by the organizations located in the city; finally submitting them to technical committee of Ministry of Roads and Urban Development to be approved;
Defining the mandatory nature of the principles and technical regulations in buildings and determining the priority of their implementation;
Policy making for improving quality and quantity of manufacturing building components and materials required in building and housing section with an emphasis on new technologies;
Directing and ordering compilation of technical criteria and required standards for design and construction of buildings in order to improve the quality and development of building and housing technologies;
Directing study and research plans in the field of building national codes by cooperation with scientific and research centers;
Preparing control checklists for mandatory building codes;
Planning for development of implementing new technologies in building and housing construction and developing industrial construction of buildings;
